            Country Roots Linedance Club

Country Roots was formed as a result of several friends from one of the local villages mentioning that there were problems getting transport to Bedford in the evenings, and as a result they were missing out on being taught the latest dances etc.

We were asked to consider teaching in BLETSOE, and after much consideration, agreed to start a class at the village hall. Advertising and word of mouth meant that the first night guaranteed a full house, so sure enough one Thursday evening in May 2003, COUNTRY ROOTS was born.

Two years later the class had gone from strength to strength, most of the original members are still attending and quite a few new ones as well, so on this note we decided to start a second class, this time in Bedford.
We decided on GOLDINGTON GREEN LOWER SCHOOL and WEDNESDAY evenings, and  our second class was formed!.

We have both been linedancing for about 10 years.
Kathleen ‘meets and greets’ and is the ‘Hostess with the Mostest’, while Mike, who is a Fully Qualified B.W.D.A Linedance Instructor does the teaching.

In 2006 we were extremely fortunate and pleased  that Isla agreed to join Country Roots.

Isla will be assisting Mike with the teaching and generally helping the classes.

Isla has a 'knack' of putting new dancers at ease! and is also a Fully Qualified B.W.D.A. Linedance Instructor and has been dancing for about 8 years.

As the name implies, we prefer Country music, but if it fits to other music and it is popular, then we will endeavour to teach it. The only thing that we insist upon, is that everybody has fun. Life is too short to be miserable and enjoying your hobby is of paramount importance.

We had been asked again if we would start another class for beginners, and as most of our Thursday nighters are now improver/intermediate level, they were willing to change to our Wednesday class at Goldington Green Lower School . This left Thursday's free for us and on

5th October 2006  (7.30pm until 9.00pm) we started a NEW BEGINNERS class at

*Lincroft Middle School, Station Road, OAKLEY

* From 24th July 2007 this class change to Tuesday evenings and moved to Pavenham Village Hall, Oakley Road, Pavenham,

Nr. Bedford.

2007 saw us start a brand new TOTAL beginners class (started on 9th January) on Tuesday  mornings 10 - 11.30 am.

Isla will be your instructor, and if you have never danced before then this is the class for you !

We are at Bedford Athletic Rugby Clubhouse, Wentworth Drive, Bedford where there are ample and free car parking facilities.

We also hold linedance social discos during the year, during which, we hold raffles to support charitable organizations.  For 2005 we were able to support the Neonatal Unit at Bedford Hospital and 2006 supported The Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

During 2007 we will be supporting various local organizations and charities.

2009 - New Total Beginners class start on 6th January 2009 at the Bedford Athletic Rugby Clubhouse in Wentworth Drive.

Time - 9.30am - 10.30am (this class will precede the improver level class which now starts at 10.30am until 12.00 noon.)
